The last "released" version of DOS is 6.22. Win 95 and 98 still run on top of DOS versions 7 & 8 that were never sold as seperate DOS operation systems. You will have trouble finding DOS for sale unless you have a used software store near by.
Type "abondanware" in any search engine and you may find it, but I cannot confirm the legitimacy of getting it that way.
I saw version of MS DOS for sale in Best Buy a few weeks ago. Sure, it was probably on the self since five years ago, and sure they were charging $50 for it, and sure their computers probably didn't even know it was there, but they would have been glad to sell it to you.
and I noticed that the partition magic "rescue disks" use a newer version of DR DOS. I've always found DR DOS interesting but it seems it just "went away" for a while. Someone bought it I think.
I have DOS5.0,DOS6.0 Upgrade, Win3.1 allon 5 1/4 floppies plus Win95 upgrade CD that were given to me with an old Gateway 486. Original with B/W cowside logo. Discs look brand new and computer appear little used.
