I got a few of these e-mails. Looked suspicious so I e-mailed ebay and forwarded them my email. They e-mailed be back saying it was not an email from them and they were investigating the origination of them. They said they would never send an e-mail asking for any kind of private information. This email linked to a page claiming to be ebay which looked authentic in appearance. It asked for your login name and password, credit card number and moms maiden name, name address and telephone #. The whole works. If you would have gave out this they could have ruined your name and credit very easliy.

I believe a 'hot deal' pertains to a specific product that someone has the ability to purchase...I fail to see how information on scams is a hot deal or belongs in the form.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me cause there's a big real estate scam going on in Denver right now and I think I read on CNN.com about a hacker stealing credit cards and one of them MIGHT BE YOURS, and I got this email about how I have this unclaimed money in Uganda and all they need is my bank account number. We better start a thread on each one right now for such smoking hot deals. /end sarcasm

Yeah, you have a point. Since in modern civilized times we've basically slowed down Darwinism to a snail's pace, we really need this sort of economic Darwinism to take over. It may not exactly get rid if the weaker genome via removal, but a least it makes it much less likely for the genome to get passed down if owner of the genome in question does not have the funds to go on a date. It's always nice how nature seems to compensate for things.

I have to agree that there is a need to know (especially about e-bay, the "Hot Deals" alter ego).
No one would hesitate to post something phony about a vendor in these missives, and e-Gay is the biggest vendor on the www and is rapidly becoming a Velociraptor, marketing-wise.

as cold hearted as it may sound, i actually think those who get parted with their money in such a fashion deserve to lose their money... or people who click/run mysterious files attached to incoming email deserve to be infected...
