latent problems from overclocking?

OS

Lifer

I got a retail 1700 tbred a couple days ago and I notice that while overclocking (12.5x133@1.65v), it'll will freeze after about 10 minutes only when I am running prime95 in the background and using my winmodem to browse the internet. This setting will run prime95 overnite just fine, but not so while I'm using the internet. The problem doesn't seem to exist when I am not overclocking.

My theory is that the winmodem uses some rarely used part of the cpu that otherwise wouldn't get strained.

What this looks like to me is that your system isn't extremely stable. It is still pretty stable if it can run Prime95 overnight. But it isn't stable enough to run Prime95 AND browse the internet. If you can still run all of your programs fine and no "normal" use makes the system crash, then it is probably still stable enough to use. Most overclocker's ideas of "stable" are different.
