Guess who has a GlobalWin Delta Black Label 60mm fan laying around?

ME.

You need a fan, and you promise me you'll crack RC5 for Anandtech, this $14 monster of a fan is yours [with a pretty grill]. Be warned, it's loud, but you won't have a hot CPU. Oh yeh, and I have enough thermal grease to feed a thousand CPU army. I even have an OEM P3 Slot-1 cooler if anybody needs that.

JOIN TEAM ANANDTECH RC5 TODAY! What are you waiting for?

Russ,

Yep. It's very small at the moment, but I'm working as hard as I can on it. It's like a second job. :D

.. If anybody wants to join my growing mini-team for Team Anandtech, just use the id "tom581@yahoo.com", and you'll be a part of The Manaics. Don't forget to use Paulson's guide so you'll only be cracking RC5.

Soybomb : you can have as many comps running rc5 with the same email. All blocks add up. I have 19 comps running and am part of a subteam of TeamAnantech : The Federation. Russ does same at a greater level : TA Cube.
And the client is multithreaded so a dual 400 works like a single 800.

hmm, Geekish, I did just get around to re-installing RC5, and getting my crack on. Wonder if the C366 could make it to 616 with that beast...

BA-

The distributed.net client is usually one of the last programs to crash on me when I have my processor overclocked. I can run it (P3-450) up to 620+ and the client never crashes. We could really use ya.

Paulson..

:p :p :p

After re-adjusting my golden orb for the umpteenth (4th, maybe 5th) time, I think it might actually be doing it's job. Cleaned off the old thermal grease, applied a new layer, and I think it actually made a slight difference. I'm gonna try running RC5 for the next few days to see if the heat stays within acceptable ranges, so far it looks good. Hope another 1.85MKeys/s will help ya.

If anyone knows of anything which will cool a FC-PGA P-III chip better then golden orb, please tell me what/where/how much, or hell, if you have a spare one and feel like donating it, that'd be kewl ;).

i have tried running rc5 on my PIII 933 (oc'ed 700e) but it makes it go over 50 degrees celcius. when my comp is idle it is about 40 degrees at all speeds so it is definitely the cow and not my ocing. however, what i am asking for is any gorbs or pep66's. when i crack, my comp will not run any other programs and causes it to reboot. please email me if you have a pep66 for sale.

edit: oops i guess i put in the wrong temperature scale.

50 degrees farenheit? I think you mean Celsius.
And you're not using any cooling? I'm suprised your cpu doesn't burn when you open internet explorer.

yeah, i'm using the retail hs/fan combo from intel which is suck. the temps i'm getting are from sandra. i have the iwill slocket II so that should accurately give me the temps of my cpu right? maybe i should ask this in the cooling forum but it seems that i wasn't getting help there.

You should download a CPU temp monitoring utility and see what temperature it gets to when your system is at 100% load (e.g. when running cpu intensive games, or leave RC5 cracking for a little while), to get a sense of what your cpu temperature will level off at. If it stays below (in my opinion) 125F (about 52C) then it should be fine. Above 130-140F and I'd suggest either getting more cooling or not leaving your CPU on for long periods of time...while it might not kill your CPU right away, it will probably lower it's life expectancy in the long run.
