Last year I got my uncle a 4-month gift sub. to Netflix

I got an email from netflix saying that it hadn't been activated and now it's counting down. the gift recipient can no longer activate it, but I can apply it to my own account within 2 weeks. it pisses me off that he didn't even use the christmas gift I got him :| I reminded him several times too.

There was an article in the NY Times which touched on tech gifts for those who don't want or need them. Maybe you should have read it? 😀 (actually, it came out a few weeks ago)

that's always a bummer.

that's why I don't buy my dad gifts anymore. I just give my mom money and have her by the gift.

two years ago, I bought my dad a fireproof safe for him to store important documents like wills, birth certificates, passports, etc... he didn't even open it until November of the following year.

as kids, me and my sister chipped in to buy him a gameboy because he was really into Tetris. my sister found it in the attic a couple weeks ago, still with the original plastic seal intact.

I want a safe! I bet you can get some money for that gameboy down the road. My dad used to hate video games but tetris actually started him into them.

We get my mother gifts that she can't give away, or won't want to, like soap and crap.
