All I know is we're going to be doing IBR, the specifically congressionally created version for PSLF, when she starts residency. I'm sure they're going to fuck around with other PSLF/income-based repayment stuff that was created through executive action.

I've seen people on reddit say they've had to talk to their provider regarding the type of plan they are on and force the switch to the correct one since SAVE and others are effectively blocked at the moment. And the providers don't always understand that there is actually a plan called IBR.
Just a mess thanks to typical Republican bullshit.

Just a reminder that it was GOP state AGs that sued over Biden's SAVE plan based on the theory that MOHELA would make less money if loans were forgiven more quickly after MOHELA said it didn't want to sue.
The ruling was just straight up SCROTUS calvinball.

Oh absolutely it was bullshit. But that's why people are noting to stick with the IBR plan, if only because it is at least protected by statute (whatever the fuck that might mean these days).

Well shit, I guess judges could only hold this back for so long. It's too bad that so many states have already passed budgets for next fiscal year without accounting for school funding shortfalls.
If your kids go to a Title 1 or Title II funded school, you might be SOL when it comes to school lunches, busing, or any other services funded by federal dollars. Unless, of course, you toe the Trump/McMahon line when it comes to curriculum decisions (bye bye diversity programs, ESL/Spanish immersion, black history, or anything that teaches the Civil War was about slavery vs. states' rights.)

If SCOTUS isn't going to justify it's arbitrary decisions, district courts should just start finding new reasons to block stuff.
But also, nothing will ever be fixable until we take care of the lawless and illegitimate Supreme Court who has taken it upon itself to be a super legislative body that lets Republicans do what they want, even when it's clearly illegal and unconstitutional, and blocks all things from Democrats.

On an unrelated note, I can't wait for the first lawsuits over student loans when they try to move the collection and repayments to another department in violation of everyone's master promissory note.
More pure Calvinball. The president can’t forgive student loans because Congress didn’t speak clearly enough. The president CAN dismantle the department of education against the express will of Congress though because, well, Calvinball.
If there is ever another democratic president the first step will need to be to dismantle the court and recreate it. This one no longer has any legitimacy.

To make it worse, the people Trump wants to see them enter, won't due the lack of loans or the easiness to do it.
And without students, some teachers will quit.

I am shocked that nuking a cabinet level department that can only be established by Congress isn’t a “major question” requiring specific congressional action.

The Court literally is allowing potential coups in the future. And they will lose the few power they can distribute.

Basically every presidential system like ours has devolved into autocracy eventually because it’s a fundamentally flawed setup. (Split sovereignty is a very bad idea)
For many years now the question has been how the US avoided it. It turns out in the end we didn’t.
Autocracy won't last until a war happens and destroys the leadership and balcanizes the territory. If the USA ends having that, would make a real ending of an era.
