Elon’s weekend wrecking ball seems to be at it again. If we take him at his word, his Twitler Youth just deleted the Department of Education.

Apparently some Congresscritters visited this morning and were denied entry. Musk just tweeted that “no such department exists”.

Just watched a maintenance guy taking letters off of the building. It would be interesting to see how long it normally takes for something like that to happen if you used the normal process.

He's a menace and he really needs to be fucking dealt with.

I’m wondering whether it’s time for the National Guard, because the government is literally under attack?

I am actually Googling whether Mayor Bowser can call in the National Guard (she can only make a request of POTUS—and any request for “arrest or detention” must be approved by Hegseth.)

Also, Maryland and Virginia guard units can’t do shit—the D.C. National Guard is the only local National Guard with a national mission to protect the Federal Government – their motto being "Capital Guardians."

I guess we really fucked that one up.

If there's still a Federal Government in 2028, then Donald Trump will have failed to deliver on his promise to make it unnecessary to ever vote again.

You have to admit, term limits don't apply to dinosaurs in Congress, why should they apply to the WH?

No term limits might have kept Don out in the first place.

Republicans fail to remember the purpose of these various departments and agencies was in support of national security.

I can only imagine what a colossal shitshow this is all going to be as the litigation and pauses and resumptions and do it anyways and all that rolls out.

The US Govt beurocracy is slow but weighty, it's not going to respond quickly to this kind of internal threat but when it does it's gonna end up costing a lot of money to put those letters back on...

i hate how this is the arc of so many political thrillers/dramas - some megacapitalist donor pulls the strings of government officials. musk is not a government official. DOGE is not an official department established within the constitution or by congressional action. he has no legal authority. and yet he exerts massive command within the government (because trump listens to him).

fuck i hate this timeline.

Were you referring to Dept of Education building or the USAID building?

Pentagon next?

(By "his team of software engineers" I assume they mean his gang of teenage neo-Nazis and incels and potential spies for assorted foreign powers?)

Asked why Doge needs access to treasury payment systems including Americans’ social security numbers, home addresses and bank accounts, he replied: “Well, it doesn’t, but they get it very easily. We don’t have very good security in our country.”

Reminds me of the character in father Ted who would complain that the furniture was cheap rubbish because it broke so easily, as he was forcibly smashing it to bits.

Can't wait for Elon's hatchet kiddies to go over to the CIA HQ and start kicking Agents out. Should be fun to watch what happens then.

The issue? TONS OF DEEP THROATS like the one from Watergate, destroying US image and showing up who are their Russian leaders, damaging the economy even further.

And capturing won't be an option since they will mostly flee to Europe.

MI:10 (or is it 9? Nobody can keep track any more) - Ethan Hunt and the rest of the IMF ("not _that_ IMF, the _other_ IMF") are defunded and made redundant by a deep Russian mole inside the US government, and Hunt has to gather a team for a rogue operation infiltrating the mysterious "DOGE" organisation. Features lots of running in unsutiable footwear, and some spectacular stunts involving exploding spaceships.

Sure will be funny when all those rural, red state districts have to start closing schools and firing teachers when their dept. of education funds disappear.

And being replaced by the Army, training them to go to Ukraine to fight for Russia and their sure deaths
