Any fans?

Personally I like the show but I'm starting to be somewhat.. i dunno what the right word is...

Most of what he talks about on the show are problems with the USA specifically, but there is a huge amount of spillover onto Canada obviously as well, depending on the issue. Personally I don't find anything he is saying to be all that offensive, and generally speaking seems like he focuses on systems that have institutionalized discrimination rather than just people that suck.

But I'm pretty sure this show is going to tank in the not-too-distant future. I have a feeling that Americans are going to get pretty sick of a British guy with a tv show telling them how much their country sucks.

The show isn't nearly as light as it was in the first season. I like the pointing out hypocrisy but imo the show needs to lighten up.

Hmm, I have not watched any of the second season yet. I freaking loved the first season; Oliver was great and the writing was just excellent.

Looks like ratings are all over the map with the show, so who knows what will happen. I hope it stays around.

It's a great show, even better than the daily show or the colbert report, i hope it sticks around. Love the format.

I loved the 1st season, and still love the 2nd season.

Though I will admit, I don't laugh out loud as much this 2nd time around. While his points and comedy are still great, I think the "oh wow, that's a brilliant point" or "oh wow, that's a brilliant joke/analogy/way to explain it" effect has worn down.... not completely worn off yet, but down for sure.

I still love it and will watch every minute of it.

Best new Comedy on TV IMO.

Probably one of the best comedians out there right now.

Of course American's won't like him, he speaks the truth.

America has issues with that sort of thing.

He nails it ALL. Almost seems like he takes what George Carlin has been talking about to a WHOLE new level.

He should be a president one day.

I still watch and enjoy it, but I can't help but feel like the cliff is coming.

lol well to be fair my comments are more about the show than him. I really like him as well, think he is very funny and fresh. I agree with you.

My concern is more to do with ratings, people not liking what he has to say (rather than how he says it) and turning off. Not now, but in the future.

Well, I'm SURE John has a LONG LONG LONG list of politicians and business man ready to chop his head off.

Wouldn't be surprised if the lightning strikes him soon enough, after all we have a long history of propel that speak the truth and fight for peace/better things dying.

I think delivering SERIOUS topics and a funny way is spot on.

I prefer if it doesn't get too popular, anything that does usually goes down the toiled quick.

If there was a revolution in this country, John should lead it. Guy knows exactly how FUBAR everything around us is.

MOST people ignore it or turn a blind eye.

The guests on the show are always retarded to boot

the topics they "debate" are stupid. Anytime they find something worthy of talking about all the dumb fucks can do is make retarded jokes.

The show needs to be more like Bill Maher if you want to capture my interest. The retarded people that come on as guests ruin it. BADLY.

edit: Confused the show with The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore that replaced Colbert.

Does he even have actual guests? I know there are brief cameos/appearances form people, but I don't recall interviews or anything. Maybe I missed those ones...

That's part of what makes the show so impressive, he does it pretty much solo (yes I know he has writers).

I also don't know what is meant by guests. I'm assuming he is talking about TDS, in which case generally I would agree.

I think the best part about the show is how John manages to show us how pathetic our entire society is.

Something most people don't realize or know.

I think of it as "educating American people of things they NEED to know about".

I dont subscribe to HBO and I no longer pirate stuff, so I have only seen whatever clips are officially posted by the show. They are generally very funny, I like John Oliver quite a bit, though IMO he is no match for Jon Stewart.

Eh, I didn't even know the new season started. Honestly, it being right after a show I was interested really helped it out. I would always watch it. But, with nothing starting until April, I haven't even bothered.

Yeah but he isn't a citizen yet. Just kind of smells like "Hey I'm British and I know best, America. Come listen to me."

I know its stupid but sometimes I can't help but think like its a show about a non-American explaining how much America sucks in a way that is so simple, even the average American can understand it.
