i've spent most of the past year wasteing time in ATOT and not keeping up with all the new tech. haven't been to the main site in months.
 
the site doesn't strike me as unique enough to actually look at

yep.. I don't spend all my money on hardware or really keep up with the newest hardware. I just built my first system a few months ago (parents bought my first computer in 1995 and I bought a used one in 2000) and that was the first time I really looked up some reviews on hardware. Don't think I checked out Anandtech though.
