RIP.

His scenes were great at the end of LotM.

They should have used him as a Jedi warrior in one of the Star Wars movies.

Man I need to watch that movie again. I wonder if the wife would enjoy it or if it would be to bloody for her.

He was actually Italian American, interestingly. Not to discount his activism or acting skillz 🙂 (I haven't seen the movie though)

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is a racist, colonial office that has total authoritarian control over Indian land, resources and people. Anyone of integrity in the world would be insulted that their government has a department that is strictly to oversee an ethnic group. That is Hitlerlism, that is apartheid, that’s everything this country and any country should be against. Let’s create a bureau of Jewish affairs and see how long that lasts, or a bureau of African affairs.
Russell Means.

Just for a moment try to imagine what this country and the world might be like if genuine, good natured people like this were actually in charge. We are ruled by "I" and "me" people. This man was part of the few "we" people.

Just watch it again. The violence and blood in that movie is actually fairly tame compared to a lot of stuff we see today.

One of my favorite movies. Without a doubt one of the best movie score in cinematic history.

Amazing film. The making-of / special features are fantastic, and enhance the enjoyment of the movie for film buffs.

The director chose not to use artificial lighting, and go for extremely authentic aspects whenever possible, so every piece of clothing, etc is quite well done. There is some definite artistic license taken with some of the rifle usage late in the film, but overall it's a great piece of work and quite a ride.

In 1973, Dennis Banks and Charles Camp led AIM's occupation of Wounded Knee, which became the group's most well-known action. Means appeared as a spokesman and prominent leader as well. The armed standoff of more than 300 Lakota and AIM activists with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and state law enforcement lasted for 71 days. A visiting Cherokee from North Carolina and an Oglala Lakota activist from Pine Ridge Reservation were killed in April 1973. Earlier an FBI agent was shot and became paralyzed from his wounds.

RIP Mr. Means
