anihow.. raptor is so not worth the money.. real life performance gain is minimal... u wont even be able to tell the difference..
people running two raptors in raid 0 wont even see much "real life" performance gain...
if u going to spend that much on cpu.. make sure to get one w/ 1mb L2 cache..
check out coolermaster centurion 5 and 530 for cases... pretty slick..
not overclocking the a64 chip is kinda waste... couple days of effort to learn and oc'ing made my $120 venice run faster than $800 fx-55... u should definitly look around..

What do you recommend for L1 cahce? And I guess ill start up on that whole overclocking 😉

Another question, does your budget include the future planned upgrade? or the $1500 is now, with additional money for the planned x850 upgrade?

If you are striving for a quiet system, the Samsung sata drives with NIDEC motors have gotten excellent reviews from silentpcreview.com.

Samsung Spinpoint 160 sata

Again, this case has gotten awesome reviews for being silent:

And on another note:
one of the other forums on anandtech has shown that BF2 greatly benefits from having 2g memory so you should opt for 2x1gb PC3200 chips.

As well has a64 systems not having much of a performance hit with value ram unless you run WINRAR all the time.

And if you are going to spend $400 bucks on a processor, why dont you just opt for the dual core x2 version

ea but keep in mind its gonna be my first time overclocking anything so yea.....
as for 37 vs 40 some1 told me u would get higher speeds with the 40 then 37 and hey i got the money to blow on the 4000 so why not?

Sorry for double post but i want to know if it is possible to get anything under a 4000+ to overclock higher then a 4000+ can possibly overclock

oh my, imho ecs is the crappyest brand ive seen, ive owned 2 of their borads, both of them dead now, (one lost its ps2 ports, lan, onboard vid, then died, in that order, MONTHS APART), the other one just decided not to startup one morning so i scrapped it

drives, personally id go with a sata drive, 160 or 200gb, made by none other than seagate, (i use dual 200gb REFURBISHED seagate drives and the work like a champ. refurbs still have a warranty, and from seagate i trust them, cause ive lost 4 WD drives in 6 years, zero seagate).. also sata is a lot easer to work with, BUT you have to put your controller's drivers on a floppy if you are going to run raid, u might also have to just running regular drives., also there is a slight, not to big, but barely noticeable performance increase with sata, and ive noticed they cost the same as ide

what else, i suggest getting a good mobo now, but if you know ul have the money to go crossfire the go for it, dont trust ECS for more than 16 months or so.... (im using a 9200se untill crossfire comes out)

cases, i personally fell in love with this case, CRAP... they dont have it anymore, but heres the big brother to it: http://www.newegg.com/OldVersion/app/Vi...Desc.asp?description=11-129-157&depa=1 also came with a nice PSU with im still using, and if i were to buy another psu, it would either be antec or pc power and cooling...

exelent choice for the dvd burner, i have the 3520A with new firmware making it the 3520AW... best drive ive ever gotten

GL with you pc buildin

Thanks TSCrv, i guess im all set with the exception of my mobo? Thats ok cus i dont plan on having it for more then a month 🙂. Ill check out what u have cus i just might try to sell the old mobo on ebay once i get the new one. I dont think people would want to buy that cr@p.

I've changed my mind on ram im gonna go with OCZ Gold Series 1GB 2x512MB and maybe go for 2 gigs. Reason why i chose OCZ over the Corsair XMS is because i've heard OCZ's overclock better. Please correct me if im wrong about the overclocking.

I need help with ram! I'm ordering the parts tomorrow morning and I would appreciate any recommendations for ram and if all my parts are well chosen.
Appreciate your feedback!!

Reason for the cheap mobo is because I plan on upgrading to a crosfire mobo when they come out. And a nice x850XTpe once the prices drop. This mobo is just temporary cus of its integrated X300. Should do fine for 20 days or so then its back to newegg 😀

It also has the xpress 200 from ATI which I heard very good things about. So it should be perfect until the crossfire's come out. Someone suggested some OCZ Gold VX, OCZ Platinum Rev. 2. How are those? O yea I forgot the size, 1 GIG atleast 2 would be even better.

ocz has forums too which you can peruse. they sure do ake care of their customer. 🙁 I dont own any ocz.
