So I am a little surprised that, during my entire lifetime, I've never had a need for a blazer. But I am going to interview 1 of 3 for part time entry level tech at best buy, I have a nice dress shirt, slacks and tie. I am thinking a blazer might be too over the top since their staff uniforms are basically just business-casual. Should I bother to ask? They called me last minute and I don't know if I'll have time to get one, especially if I have to get one fitted, in this case I guess I should just buy suit?

For future reference: ask a girl to go shopping with you. Girls love shopping, especially when it's with someone else's money. So then not only do you get good fashion advice, you also get girl time.

You'll thank me later.

You should be able to walk into any department store and grab a sports coat off the rack that will fit and be more than adequate for an interview at best buy. No need to go get some custom-tailored suit that costs more than you will make in 3 months on the job.

Here is my advice: get matching color sock/shoes/belt. Iron your clothes to go with a nice conservative tie. Show the interviewer that you "want" the job and "able" to do the job. Good luck.

Oh, and no short sleeve shirt with tie please, so tacky.

No short sleeve button-down shirt ever. Doesn't matter if there's a tie involved or not. If you want short sleeves, wear a polo. If your shirt has buttons all the way down to your waist, then it should have sleeves all the way to your wrists.

I guess it's a pet peeve...

I got hired there wearing normal clothes. I'm in computer sales, bought my khakis at walmart for $10.

Geek squad seasonal may be different than normal seasonal....not sure.

Word of advice, you are going to hate the 7am Sat mandatory meetings. You get paid 2 hours (7-9) and told to go home. Black Friday is stupid. 3 bloody AM in the morning and I can't get a parking spot within a 1/2 mile of the store. Oh, and you have "practice" sessions for Black Friday, with a game plan, zone defense, etc.

Oh, and lastly, scheduling sucks...which I am sure is applicable to all retail jobs. I can't be on call 24/7 for an $8-10 job when I have a real job that pays the mortgage. There is a reason why it is called "part-time", not whenever someone calls out so you get assigned to work without notice job.
