Complete career change.

Way better pay, more opportunities, much better company too and I never really wanted corrections to be my life.
 
I was in similar position (shitty pay, unappreciated, overworked, low company morale, etc) so I totally understand your feeling.

Still, 7 years is a long time as I left mine after only half that time. I figured staying longer would have been really bad on my emotions (not to mention short-changing myself from other opportunities out there).
