Leaving tomorrow and feel like doing one last hurrah on the roulette table. Overall, I am on the negative for this trip, hopefully this one last bet will help me out a little. Its not going to be anything big, just a little bit, just for fun.

So, ATOT, black or red?

I do the following with roulette:
1) Take the min bet amount and place it on either black or red. Go with your gut, don't listen to anyone else.
2) Take another min bet amount and place it on random #s on the table.

So, if the min bet it $10, place $10 on black or red and then place $1 chips (ten $1 chips) on random #s on the table.

You have a 50/50 change of breaking even.

You also have a "good" change of getting a nice pay out off of one number.

Wrong
The casino has a >5% edge on all roulette bets.

Red or black will hit, yes? That's a 50/50 chance.

If you dump $10 in $1 chips on 10 numbers and place another $10 on red or black, you do indeed have a 50/50 chance to get your $20 back.

Ever heard of 0 and 00?

Out of my entire personal experience of playing roulette for the past 13 years (twice every year at 3 to 4 days each time), I have honestly had 0 and 00 hit a grand total of 3 times.

Min bet on red/black, plus min bet spread across numbers works wonders.

You want to nitpick? Have fun! :)

My fun comes from walking away, each trip to Vegas, up. Anywhere from $450 to $3,000 ($3K happened only once - on the 1st day though, rest of the trip was rough).

The red/black bet imho is the worst bet to make (if there is a such thing as a good roulette bet).

When I play, I typically divide my bet up on as much spread as possible (Typically corner bets). My theory here is that while each individual bet has the same house advantage, the spread of bets makes it more likely to win and the payout is higher than the color or even/odd bet.

But roulette isn't my game, my game is craps.

Do you honestly think this is true? You know that high school level math can show the casino has an edge in all roulette bets right?

It's also not always about wining the bet, it's about if you can make money winning the bet.

a 1/1 bet is a bad bet because at best you are just going to walk away with what you came in with. You could take 10 bucks and spread it around on 10 corner bets and have a good chance of winning, but your not going to make your 10 bucks back even if you win and in the end, even with a winning streak you are going to be down.

Ah, then I imagined my success.

$80 Sunday brunch celebration at Bally's at the end of each trip sure felt real though,...

Sure I have. It's big table with the spinning wheel, little ball, numbers and colors.

Great fucking game! Give it shot next time you are in casino.

then i would think you would know there are 3 colors and not 2. apparently you don't.

Its just math.

You place 10 $1.00 bets on corner bets. The payout is 8:1. So you are betting 10 $1 bets and only 1 bet can win (providing you are distributing for maximum coverage). You can't make your $10 back.

Now if you place less than 10 bets, obviously you can make some money (providing you win more often than lose). The point I was trying to make is just because you can win a bet doesn't always make it a good bet.

This is also why even though the payout is great, prop bets in craps are sucker bets. While you might win 7 to 9 times your bet, winning doesn't always mean walking out a winner.

If you play with any regularity you will likely lose in the long run. Most losing gamblers think they are winners because they seem to forget all the times they lost. Do you think poor people spending all their money on lottery tickets is a wise retirement plan?

For me, its just luck.

Give it a shot and see what happens. Try the Freemont street roulette tables. The main strip has very few $5/$10 min tables. I think some of the big ones have $10 on Sundays.

Since you feel the math dictates it is not worth it to try, then that's fine. It's obviously your choice!

:)
