WARNING!
Not only is this post spam, but the following warnings are associated with these devices:

Never shine the laser pointer at another person, especially in their eyes.
Even the briefest exposure to the beam can cause permanent eye damage.
Avoid indirect or reflected exposure to the beam
Do not allow the laser pointer to be used by minors.

The targeted individuals would have to be pretty cooperative and stand perfectly still for a few minutes while the lasers were shined into their eyes. Laser pointers aren't powerful enough to cause instant eye damage.
Of course, that's a 5mW laser pointer.

I see now that they're using 75mW lasers - hardly what I'd call a laser pointer, unless you're hoping to burn holes through things at a business presentation.

1 post, no profile to check email address

I agree it seems like spam but where is the proof?

I don't know if they intended to spam but just reading their post reeks of PR material, and every single link on that ezines site I've looked at under most viewed for the "military" is from manufacturers.

Yeah, which is why I asked. 75mW is very powerful, and not considered safe to look at for any length of time.

75mW won't burn much from across the conference room. 5W certainly does - it will burn right through a palm treo hardcase in about 1 second. That concludes this business penetration.

What a ridiculous "article"!! I love the attributions: "? Spec. Loren active duty Iraq" No unit, no location. Then there's the one identified as "OIF 3" as if that's a unit designation.

On a related note, green laser pointers are pricey!

That cute essential little laser diode in your DVD drive/printer/PS3 etc has been put to more dynamic uses. Such as being used in trouble spots such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Liverpool.

This article gives full details on their use.

You should just post some lasers up for sale in the FS/T forum.

The proof is that the OP only has one post. He wouldn't use his normal nickname to create a spam account. And he's not selling lasers, he's getting ad revenue with his ezine site somehow.

He would have pulled it off better if he didn't act suprised, and just posted the story without a stupid sh1t eating grin.
