Man, I really want to see that video. Marked until when I get back home with faster internet in end of April. Satellite internet at sea is extremely slow internets :(
Firefox add-in: DownloadHelper. Download the video at whatever speed you get, and watch it later.

And unless I missed it, I saw a lot of a guy talking about his laser system, and pointing at it, and some bugs on a screen, but not so much in the way of exploding, burning bugs.

I think I was impatient at some point though - I can't seem to get most streaming video in realtime, so I have to let it buffer awhile. I also don't care for streaming video players that don't allow seeking beyond what's buffered already. Also, there are kids on my lawn who need to be yelled at. :p
And the video is about 63MB.

Ok........the guy says that the camera uses IR for illumination. Aren't mosquitoes capable of seeing infrared, and are attracted to it? Well heck, I guess that might actually be kind of useful, assuming they fly through the "fence" first.

Edit: Ah, finally! If you'd actually like to see a mosquito get hit by this thing, here's the link.

btw, since the video doesn't allow seeking beyond the buffered point, I have to wait a few days to bother seeing it. Any indication on a price tag for building one of these yourself?

Yes that sounds familiar but I do have a pretty decent bandwidth (1.5Mbps).
Still not going to download a 70MB quicktime file.

This does not sound practical and may even be vapor ware! Most people don't have a background in lasers so they may be convinced this is feasible. I'm not saying it's not possible just not plausible in an everyday environment.

Getting rid of skeeters is easy enough. CO2 will attract them by the boatload (pun not intended!) where they can be vacuumed into a chamber and destroyed with various types of energy, etc.
