I saw a commercial for this movie. The whole premise behind the movie is flawed. A guy gets fired because he didn't go to college? WTF? Wouldn't that be something that the company would notice before hiring you? Now, all of a sudden, oh hey, we just realized that you didn't go to college so we are going to fire you. That would be awful if it happened in real life, yet the commercial acts like it would be a fun little adventure. Also, this movie currently has a 35% on metacritic, so it looks like Julia Roberts is keeping steady with movies on par with Eat Pray Love.

I believe he had been working there for something like 20yrs already - he couldn't be promoted b/c of no degree, so they fired him.

I've seen that happen at a large company I worked for many years ago. We had a couple of guys working as Design Engineers with no degrees. The company merged with another, and the job requirements changed. There were going to be layoffs anyway because of the merger, but the guys without the degrees were the first to be let go.

that really does stink b/c those guys probably had a ton of irreplaceable experience.
