Largest/Best RFID Solution Providers?

There's no one who has a complete solution: that is, tags, readers, middle ware blah blah blah.

The closest you'll get is accenture or IBM and their services are horrible. Also, what is your application? Read range? Read Rate?

Can you link me to where you read that? I tried searching Google and didn't find anything.

It's a 350 page VDC report that's not publicly available. I'd just give you a copy but I don't know if I'm allowed to give it out.

You can buy one for 7k from VDC...

If you want to know anything specific let me know

No, that's alright, although I do appreciate you taking the time to reply, thanks

Heh, I can't really talk about that 😛

I just wanted to see what AT had to say on this topic, lots of valuable information on this forum

hahaha Fair enough 😉

If you're looking for RFID for security solutions... whatever you do, do NOT go low-bid. I've got BAD experiences with that. 😉

Yeah, this isn't for security but there will definitely be a test run, and quality > quantity 🙂

well the technology isnt that mature yet, currently walmart is working with some chinese compnaies to drive down the prices to about 5 cents a tag but currently it can be as high as 10x that.

are you going to be deploying the tags to many devices or just a few?

Many, and the fact that it isn't mature yet is an issue. I think holding off at the moment with RFID would be the best choice.

They're a bunch of smart guys...they understand exactly what they're doing. They're also the only ones with Gen 2 tags that are readily available..

It depends on if you need UHF. The HF market is very mature and most of the growth in the next year will be at HF not at UHF.

In the majority of cases people read about EPC and 18000-6C(gen2) and immediately ask for it without knowing what their application is or what their requirements are.

Also, a 5 cent tag isn't coming for awhile. It's the classic case of we need huge volumes to get to 5 cents and all the purchasers are waiting until a 5 cent tag to buy.

Omron?

Sorry, but I work in the automation field. That's all I know about! 😉

Omron tags rule...we were able to get 3 or 4 feet more read range with Omron tags in free space.

They're also cheap...they won't deal with you for low volumes though (5000 or less)

HID Corp.

I've used their systems in automated systems in which an operator would use thier ID card to swipe across a machine terminal to gain access to machine setup and function. Worked very well. Had both keyfob (keychain units) and card ID units. They apparantely sell other RFID solutions also.
