Well i have to wright a research paper on any topic of my choice... so I picked to compare and contrast Laptops vs. PC's in general. Any good points to bring up in my argument or which side should I pursuade... personally I have no preference.

Also one other question/thing in a short amount of time I will be purchasing a laptop for my college experience and would like some input on the issue...what laptops are the Ferrari's of Laptops, in all aspects including web browsing, media center edition, little gaming, writing papers, and all other normal college use for a laptop.

Thanks for everyones help on these topics!

My advice:

Write your paper on something you DO have a preference on.

Don't buy a laptop for gaming, period. Have a desktop for that.

standards vrs proprietary hardware. you should be able to go on for at least a page with that. then compare power consumption, upgradability, performance, and price.

Have you thought about an Apple? I have a Powerbook, and I've never met anyone who didn't absolutely fall in love with it. Best laptop I've ever owned, and it does everything you listed for it to do except game (it does have the hardware for it, just not many games on OS X). But honestly you are going to college man, gaming should be the last thing on your mind. Go out and have fun, not sit in front of a monitor!!

www.apple.com/games

u'll find the list there. 🙂 not too many, but u'd be suprised what they have.

Since i picked up my iXPS2, i've gone completely laptop now... and i can't ever see myself ever buying a desktop again.

Laptops get lost, dropped or stolen. Also laptop hard drives tend to not be quite as reliable as desktop hard drives.

In college, when you're writing papers on your laptop and it gets stolen, don't expect your professor to show you much sympathy.

AKA, stay with a desktop.
