Laptops CPU temps

What type of processor out there right now for laptops will run cool. I need to replace the wife's laptop which was some celeron based dell laptop and that thing would get hot as can be and eventually shut down. My work laptop a thinkpad T42 with a pentium M 1.7 runs pretty cool compared to any other laptop I've used. how are the new core duo and core 2 duo temps as well as any AMD offerings. Also will having different video cards in a laptop also heat things up.
 
The Core Duos and the Core2 Duos are the best for power efficiency/Calculating strength. They run cool and they're powerful.
AMD's offerings just don't come close.
