laptops... Ashton Digital?

This is some questions about a laptop computer... wasn't exactly sure what category it should go in. So, sorry if this is the wrong place...

Anyways, I was looking at some laptop computers, and I stumbled upon some made by Ashton Digital.

They seem to have some good hardware for a nice price... But, I'd never heard of them before, and I was wondering if anyone else had bought from them before?

laptop question:

Would it be better to go from a 700mhz to an 850 ($300), or to go to a 256mb memory from 128 ($250)?

I like to multitask a lot... lots of browser windows open... program or two in the background.

And is the difference that big from 700 to 850? I'm just trying to get the best deal at an affordable price, I guess.

Heres the link to their website if ya wanna check them out:

They had some good prices (at least comparing to others i've seen) without sacrificing good hardware.

thankyou all.

*bump*

Well, if nobody knows, maybe you know of some pc sites that have some reviews of the passport? (I tried zdnet... didn't have any)

i'd figure more ram for multitasking. more programs need more ram. but buy your ram online, it'll be less than $150 for a stick of 128 sodimm. never heard of ashton. if you're concerned about battery life make sure that p3 is a mobile, some companies put desktop ones in there to offer a cheaper computer.

Thats what I was thinking about the RAM, but i wasn't sure. The only complaint i have w/ laptops is that IF they have gfx cards in them, they... kinda suck. (Well, only 8mb is what i mean - and its not upgradable) But thats okay. Gaming won't be its primary use.

Anyways, Li Ion is better than the NiHm, right?

thanx.

Does anyone know of any good, respectable pc site that reviews computers and laptops? (Like zdnet... zdnet is the only one i know of)

Never heard of that brand. With laptops its better to go brand name for the ssupport and warrantees🙂 More ram the better, and as someone has already said, make sure its a mobile p3.
