HI Guys been a while since i posted but........my daughter burnt up her processor on her hp-dv6. using the laptop on her blanket . no air circulation. anyway....four years old, worth replacing or toss it?pulled the important info off the hard drive. pictures and what not.

Toss it. The HP probably needs a new battery, internal cleaning and an OS upgrade anyways.
 
A hard serving tray will work and is probably available in the kitchen. Agree with above suggestions. Pull the HDD - data may be recoverable in a different PC or an external case.
 
OP how do you know the CPU is broken? It seems likely to me that it could just as easily be the mobo or something else. Either way it is unlikely that it is worth the time and effort to replace the broken components.
