i am not very knowledgable in the technology arena.
i am looking for a smaller, lightweight laptop.
i enjoy the macbooks, but i have been told i can get much better for much cheaper.
let me know what you think.

Then get a macbook with a student discount.

If you aren't planning to play games then go for the macbook. Sure you can probabl get the same specs for cheaper, but you will also notice a difference in quality. Plus the macbooks battery will last well over a 2 hour lecture.

Oh yea, my first gen MacBook lasts (just got a new battery) me 3.5 hours with brightness up and wifi on, surfing the web and taking notes.

The new MacBook use the same battery, but have greatly improved internals, so they actually do better than that.
