Laptop woos

I've used laptops for many years, but only recently started having problems. When I move the curser, on it's own it will highlight whole paragraphs. And sometimes it will then delete them. Sometimes the curser just jumps around on it's own, right when I'm in the middle of typing too. It's not a virus, and Dells overseas customer service help were no help (problem was with both of theirs I used).

But recently a co worked said he had the same problem with his Compact. The only common factor was that they all had the touch pads. The IBM I'm currently using has no touch pad and works perfectly, and my previous lap tops had no touch pads. Has anyone else experienced this and come up with a work around?? Any help greatly appreciated. njrich2

that is usually a problem with the touch pad, or eraser head mouse, or the interupt controller on the mobo(depends on the model there are some know issues). the dell support people should have sent you a palmrest and a keyboard at the very least.
