btw , try checking out ebay (or even the fs/t forum!). the person might try selling it cuz he /she doesnt have the equipment to charge the battery and dunno if that person wants to get caught using ur laptop either.

If this person is dumb enough to plug the laptop into the network (if in the same dorm or subnet), go and ping the computer name (it'll work only if you're in the same subnet I think). Once you obtain the IP address, call network operations and tell you're a resident advisor and that your community members' computers are being attacked by this computer and you'd like to go talk to them and are not intending to get them in trouble. It might work...... Similar thing happened to me during my freshmen year in the dorm. Some white trash b!tch :|:Q:|:Q:|went into my room (dumb roommate left the door unlocked) and stole my wallet, took my bank PIN # out of my mailbox (new bank card) and took like $3,000 out of my bank accounts, after police investigations I got my money back but never caught the person even though I knew who did it. Sorry for your loss

Scan ebay for your laptop, if you find it, make a fake account and bid on it. Pay with a CC then call the company say it was an unauthorized transaction. Leave some nasty negative feedback while you're at it.
