Laptop USB Support question!

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 445CDX laptop. The problem is USB does not work in Windows 2000. Under Win98, USB works fine. Win2000 says it is an unsupported USB Host controller.

Has anyone gotten the Toshiba Satellite Pro 445CDX to use USB under Win2000? Any help?

Thanks!

I have, but it has been a long time since I was using the 460CDX (same unit, slightly faster). The USB is controlled by a NEC chip, which is open host compliant (OHCI), but not the standard (USB Zip drives will not work with that USB chip). You may have to tell it what kind of USB device it is by manually selecting the hardware to install. I don't remember 2000 having problems recognizing the chip.
