laptop upgrading questions

Hi.

I just acquired this HP Pavillion ZE4500 from a friend of mine. I understand what the one door on the bottom is for, the memory upgrade hatch. But can anyone tell me what the second is on this notebook?

It has a slot for something in it. Hehe, I feel kinda dumb having to ask this.

Also, are these things upgradeable in any way other than memory? Such as video card, proc, etc?

thx

Battery or Hard drive.

Nothing but the RAM and HD are easy to upgrade. DVD rom is ok, CPU is kinda tricky and GPU requires the hand of god.

That particular door contains a mini-PCI slot which is for an optional Wireless PCI Lan card. The other user accessible ports are for memory and the hard drive.

There is no video "card." The video components are chips on the motherboard. Jassi's comments are quite correct.

It is possible to change some stuff on the laptop, but not everything. It seems that there are two versions for that PC. Here are the service manuals to both:

Intel Lappy

AMD Lappy

On closer inspection, it seems that it's the same service guide, but hey, you can choose which one to use.

BTW, these service guides tell you how to remove everything. And the CPU is replacable.
