Laptop - upgrading CPU, possible?

Heya all.

I have an IBM 600X laptop. It's a P3-500 processor.

Other 600X laptops, identical guts except the CPU, vary from 450 (I think) to 700 mhz.

I was wondering if I could upgrade the CPU?

I called IBM....no help there.....

But other than tearing apart the laptop to find out....does anyone have experience or know of if it's possible?

thx!

well the plain 600 and 600e use mmc-1. there are guides on ibms site. doesnt look too bad. CPUS are a lot cheaper on ebay btw

the 600 and 600e are p2-300 typically, though mhz vary, pretty sure they're all p2's

Might be worth a shot...88$ to upgrade from p3-500 to p3-800 (pricewatch@edgemicro)

Will check ebay
