laptop upgrades

ok, i was given a compaq presario 1610 laptop..

it has a 150 mmx pentium, 16 ram, etc..

i need to upgrade it a little bit because it won't run jack crap.. is there any way i can buy a new processor for it??
i know the board has a core voltage of 2.2 volts, but i need to know what kind of processor i can replace the old 150 MMX with and it work??

thanks for replies

Upgrading the processor is pretty hard stuff, and you might have a hard time finding one anyway. The easiest things to upgrade are the RAM, hard drive, and removeable drive. The video card and processor is pretty much soldered on. It's possible to upgrade, but it's probably better to just get another one. Check out DellAuction 😉 Hope this helps.

A 233MMX might be the fastest it will go. Look for these Compaq #'s 293785-001, 293786-001, 293718-001, 293829-001, 293849-001. Also look at Presario 1000. Should support 128MB, 64MBx2.
