Seems like there's a definate lack of info on upgrading or modifying laptops.
I have a compaq presario 1216. It has an AMD duron @ 900mhz. From what little I can gather about mobile amd chips, and from general knowledge of athlons and socket a, I see no reason I can't upgrade the CPU in this thing. The only considerations are whether the bios will recognize it, and how much more heat will be generated. I know desktop AMD motherboards typicaly support a huge range of CPU speeds so I suspect this laptop should be able to as well.
Anybody got any experience with this? I'm about to buy a faster mobile athlon to put in here and I will post my experiences. I'm also looking into improving the cooling.
