Laptop Touchpad

I recently acquired a new laptop (it was free). Its an HP 2175US model, running XP, with a synaptics touchpad. In its current configuration you cannot tap the pad as a mouse click. I want to turn this feature back on.

I have searched every menu for this option but I cannot find it. Any ideas?

On my Synaptics tray icon, I right click on it and "Tap to Click" is one of the 4 options in the tray icon menu.

Today, I learned that there are also tons more settings that are part of the synaptics driver. I was able to set "Tap Zones", so now I have a middle click (bottom left), back (bottom right) and forward (top right) 'buttons.' If only I had learned about this when I first got my laptop 6+ months ago 🙁.
