Laptop shuts off on battery

Hi all,

I have a Compaq Evo N600C laptop running Windows XP Pro SP2. It runs great on AC power but shuts down without warning when on battery. In testing, I have found that it has something to do with the XP System Restore feature as the problem goes away when I turn this off. It also runs OK on battery in Safe mode. I have run virus and spyware scans and nothing was found. Can anyone help? Thanks.
