laptop screen problem

Can anyone say why my toshiba satellite S305-6909 laptop is giving horizontal lines ocasionally on boot up only with the power supply connected? I have recently replaced the harddrive and installed windows 7 ultimate. The system boots normally on battery. Note also that the power supply charges the battery fine.
 
mine does the same thing only diagional lines!! just started doing it.. i have a toshiba satalite laptop as well...750d

My laptop screen gives me vertical lines! (Dell D820) I bought the cable ($3) which I was told was the problem, but someone else told me it's a real pain to change, so I haven't tried yet. When I open the laptop, the lines aren't there for about 3~4 seconds.
