I am looking for something with the latest i5 or i7, a 128GB SSD, and preferably DDR4 for a reasonable price. Discrete graphics are not necessary. A screen size of 14" to 16" would be good. nothing too small.

I only use a laptop for browsing the internet and occasional Word and Excel documents.

This is the closest I have found for a relatively low price ($800). It is DDR3 though, and I don't need the 960M.

The Dell XPS line is very solid. Thinkpad X1 Carbon but that might be out of your budget. look at a T series machine. Problem is Lenovo will milk you for memory/SSD upgrades moreso than Dell.

Might be overpowered for your needs, and a dual core i5 without a discrete card should give better battery life.

HOWEVER, that is a great, great price for a quad i5, 960M, and ssd. It should be really fast at the expense of some battery life, although I am not sure in light usage how bad it would be.

i would get a touchscreen if your planning on using win10, it makes or breaks it and once you get use it its a lot better than clicking the mouse a lot of the time

I don't want fingerprints and smudges all over my screen. I also despise touch interfaces. I barely use smartphones or tablets because of it.

I have to disagree. I have a Surface Book and a gaming desktop. I use the Surface's pen and touch capabilities every day for work, but I never miss the touchscreen when I'm on desktop. It doesn't even cross my mind.
