Hiya guys,
Im looking into buying a new laptop, and have never really messed with them before so i dont really know what is good and what is not. I have heard that asus makes nice laptops, and their prices are within my range on ebay. Could you guys give me some suggestions for what to get? I will be doing some CAD work on it so 1GB of ram is quite necessary (i could buy that from crucial later though if thats cheaper) and would like to be able to do some light gaming so a radeon 9600 or 9700 mobility is a must. I do not want the video card to sharre memory with the system. a widescreen would be good too. The asus one that i am looking at right now is the m6n series. Thanks for any suggestions,

ryan

It's a bit of work to get at the internal memory slot, but the eMachines M6805 seems to be right up your alley.

e-Machines is now owned by Gateway. Basically, I would stick to the mainstream - Dell; IBM; H-P; COmpaq; Toshiba, and Hitachi. I have a Gateway 9300cx bought in 2001 - and it is the best laptop I have ever had - came with 98SE, then a free ME upgrade, and now XP Pro. I have had it on the road in Europe, Alaska, Canada, Caribbean, - land sea, and air - and it has never crashed. A very solid performer.
