Laptop question

Wife works at Best Buy and we are in the market for a new laptop. She is going back to school so would use it for general purpose/videos. No gaming. So far these two caught my eye:

Asus 17.3" i3 processor 6gb mem 1tb for $399
or
HP envy touchscreen i5 processor 1tb for $479 (doorbuster deal)

Any input is appreciated. Price for these 2 is not the issue. Reliability and longevity are what we are looking for. It does not have to be through best buy. Id prefer the $300-500 range. Thanks!

When do you need the laptop? Is she going back to school in January? If so, there are some really good deals online.

Can you give an idea of your price-range? I'm sure we could find something suitable 🙂

Personally, I would avoid that 17.3" laptop. It weighs over 6lbs (carry weight should be a consideration), at least 8gb RAM would be ideal, and an i3 processor won't cut it for long-term use.

I'll give some recommendations in a few hours when I'm able.

January. She'd prefer to buy in-store (why, I don't know) and would get a decent deal on ones that aren't doorbusters/black Friday. Price range is 300-500. Trying to convince her to look into other options.

That larger screen will help her when staring at courses all day long and when testing. Be sure to install the citrix receiver on it when you get a laptop.

Well since she works at BB then you guys can also get the extended warranty on whatever you buy and have it serviced locally.
