Laptop question

Yes, your latop can use "type II" PC cards.

since the rest of the computers in the house use theses cards

But notice it is not standard wifi 802.11b or g, it's some proprietary wireless scheme. If you're right about everything else using "symphony cordless" networking then it is the card to buy, otherwise you need a normal wifi card.

yep, im sure ;] The cards push like 1.6mb a sec and pretty old. Doesnt effect me using im the master computer and the others are used by family members, which means they dont need the bandwidth. Just surfing the net is fast and game ping is alright. Theses cards was out before the wifi stuff, so i just ordered the right thing.

Thanks ;] were upgrading to wifi soon anyway... with some spare network parts from a family member.

1.6 mbps is plenty fast for surfing -- my DSL is only 640 kbps down so the only time my 802.11b ("11" mbps but about 4 real-world) seems slow is when copying large files to or from my server box.

If it's all working, you might want to just leave it alone instead of switching to wifi soon 🙂
