Laptop problems

The battery on my laptop now very rarely charges, even when it says it is charging. When it is charged, I get poor battery life. I would be quick replace the battery, if not for some other problems.
The laptop runs well without the battery, but will sometimes restart or shut itself off if moved.
Also, the metal connected on the AC adapter becomes VERY hot, possibly hot enough to burn (I haven't actually tried burning myself with it).

So is this a problem just with the battery, or is something inside the laptop at fault?

eMachines M6810. I got it 2 years ago, but had the motherboard replaced about 1 year ago. I have two AC Adapters and I experience the same issues with both.

if you have a can of compressed air, I would suggest you power down the laptop close the screen and thoroughly blow out the vents on it. have you been hearing the fan since this issue started?

one other note a lot of people are having issues with the heat spreader inside failing, giving the same issues. is this unit under warranty?

The fan seems to be running normally. If I leave the laptop alone, it will work perfectly for long periods without shutting down or whatnot. Would heat really cause the battery to not charge properly?

Did you try hitting the "Go" button next to your address bar or placing the cursor in the address bar and pressing enter? That should work. Anyway, here's what it says:
Voltage CPU: 1.4V
Hard Disk Temperature: 44C

there's more than just that, I need to see that if you want you can email it to me, just IM me and I'll give you my address.

thanks for the email, something is definitely wrong with the motherboard, the cpu temps not even posting and it should. the HDD temp is higher than it should be. I'd say either replace the board or the laptop. somethings either fried out or shorted out and when you move or use it, it shuts down, and probably is either limiting or killed the charging circuit of the laptop.

Being an emachines laptop, it doesnt really make sense to replace the board since its troublesome if you have never done so on a laptop before, also, it sounds like you are having some problems with the AC connector on the board itsself. It is normal to get a tad warm, but hot is definately an issue
