When I turn on my laptop the battery meter often turns on showing that it's not plugged in, however it is indeed plugged in to the wall. I often have to wiggle the cord in the back in order to make it plug in all the way.
And, I'm not sure if it's a related problem, but often my laptop will just shutdown without warning, even when the battery meter is off and there appears to be enough battery life to leave it turned on without the plug. . .and I'll be unable to turn it back on for a while, but eventually for some reason if i wait long enough it will turn back on.
Any ideas on what I can do? It's an old Sony VAIO (about 3-4 years old).
