laptop not working

I have a Uniwill laptop with XP, Athlon 64 3400+, 1gb RAM, and R9700 graphics. It has been having trouble with overheating, and yesterday it got so hot to the point I had a BSOD followed by an automatic shut down.

Since then I have not been able to get the thing to start up. When I press the power button, the lights come on and the fans spool up, but the screen remains black. Also the "hard drive" LED stays lit. It just sits there running like that but with a totally black screen. Also there is no power from the USB ports.

I ran it on battery like this for a while and eventually the "low battery" warning tones came on so it seems like there's some sort of "processing" going on in there.

I can shut down the computer at will by holding the power button down for a few seconds. I've rebooted like this several times but the screen always remains black, even though the fans and lights and everything are on.

There is a chance that it fried something, but the cpu is unlikely, all cpus made in the last few years, including your 3400 have a thermal protection mechanism that causes them to slow down and then shut off if there is too much heat.
