Laptop misbehaving

This is the second laptop I have that is doing this....Runs fine on AC adapter, the second you unplug it, it shuts off instantly. Changing battery has no effect, nor does a new AC adapter. This is getting annoying. Is this a bad mainboard?

Does it power up on battery alone? Does the battery have a LED charge level indicator?

It doesn't do anything unless the AC adapter is plugged in.

Sounds like a bad battery to me.

Swapping batteries doesn't change the problem.

Might want to inspect the battery connector closely for any signs of dirt or damage. That might cause both batteries to appear unusable to the laptop.
