Laptop memory upgrade question

I have an IBM x20 with an open memory slot and I'd like to add a 128 or 256 SoDimm. My qustion is, is there really any difference in the SoDimm memory that people advertise on ebay as an upgrade for HP or IBM or Dell laptops etc? I mean assuming that they are all 144 pin, cas 2, 3.3v, 100mhz SoDimm sticks, are they really different for each laptop manufacture? Any help here would be appreciated.

There's no real difference as they tend to use a standard, but I'd avoid buying memory off eBay. If you want memory for your laptop and you don't want to pay through the nose from your manufacturer, try Crucial or Kingston. Great quality memory, cheap prices.

I bought one for my HP Pavilion from Memory Coast 256 MB for $56.00 and it works great. You might want to check Pricewatch.
