Laptop memory question

I have 2 sticks of Kingston memory KTC311/256LP. It says it is for Compaq laptops, but the form factor is the same as my IBM Thinkpad (144 pin SODIMM)

Is there any reason why I couldnt use this memory in my IBM?

Thanks!

Okay thanks. Any advantage to using the Kingston memory specifically designed for IBM laptops then?

They have so many different part numbers listed on their website, all at different prices.

Is it just marketing scheme if it is all the same RAM?
