I have a working(hopefully) LCD from a vaio. Its a Hitachi TX36D75VC1CAB. Now presumable most LCDs are relatively similair. How difficult would it be to wire this up as a normal VGA monitor?

Very. You need to buy a controller board for it which will cost you as much if not more than a normal LCD screen.

I've got two LCD's....be nice to hook them up to test them. They SHOULD work, but based on what I've found, it is difficult, and really just plain impractical to use a laptop LCD in anything other than the laptops designed to accept it. eBay is probably the best place for a working laptop LCD.
