laptop LCD gone bad

I was wondering, is it possible to replace the circuit board on the back of the LCD? And even if I do so successfully will that get rid of two vertical lines in it? I've never taken one apart that far.
Toshiba with Phillips LP154W01 (TL)(A2) screen.
I have a broken one coming in I'm going to use the CCFL from on another screen.
Oh, and what is the difference between all the LP154W01 screens with all those suffixes? I mean "(TL) (A2)", "(TL) (F3)," etc. etc.

You mean the circuit board with mylar cables glued to a crap ton of separate circuits to the LCD pannel?

Don't know about replacing the circuit board- BUT, I recently replaced the LCD screen on a Lenovo R61 - took 45 minutes and works great. Got brand new Samsung LCD from an online auction site.

BTW- this after the IT guys at work told me it was not worth fixing and to ditch the laptop. Total cost of brand new screen was $65 plus less than one hour of my time ( I had never replaced a screen before).

Nice since the laptop cost almost $800 a year ago ( broke right after warranty expired) - now works like new again.

I would replace the LCD panel. Usually the bezels come apart fairly easily and you just move the inverter to the new display and plug the cable in.

I thought the data cable might be the cause of the bad picture at first. I unplugged and replugged it. The screen came on. It had previously been totally black. Tapping a certain portion of the circuit board made various differences but each time there remained two vertical lines.

The cheapest I see on eBay is around $80.

Repairing LCD of a laptop isn't an easy job. From the description of yours it seems to be a lose soldier at the edge of the LCD, you simply need to re-soldier the pins if you know how.
