i have a friend who's ibm thinkpad keyboard is not funtioning properly. some of the keys on the right are funtioning incorrectly. some of the letter keys on the right side of the keyboard are functioning as page up, page down, home and end keys. we cannot get them back to normal. sorry i don't know the model of the laptop. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I assume it is not under warranty? If it is under warranty then I would have them fix it. If not you may want to take it apart and see if you can replace the keyboard. I have a Dell Latitude and I know its keyboard could be easily replaced. If it can be replaced, I recommend you look on E bay for a replacement.
