Laptop just shuts down out of nowhere

My Toshiba laptop that I only use when I travel will just shut down at least once a day every time I use it now.

I got one thing about virtual memory but I DONT KNOW if it was realted or not. I did increase it, but this still happens. I don't know if I have too much stuff or what... I never use this computer really and it use to be fine..

If anyone knows what i can do to get it to just stop shutting down out of nowhere it would be GREAT!

Thanks,
Anton

My Toshiba's shut down problems were all heat related. I had a french-fried fan one time, and just plain clogged vents one time. The clog was cleaned with a vacuum cleaner and compressed air, but the broken fan took a trip to the repair shop.

Do you use your laptop on your lap, or on a hard surface?
If it is on your lap, or on newspapers etc, more than likely heat.
Worth following the hippie's advice anyway.

An older sattelite one. Not sure of the model I don't have it in front of me.
I do use it on a hard wooden table, or on my lap....

So it is a problem with the fans in which I need to clean them or replace possibly?

Thanks.

What's the free space on your Drive - you might be running out of space, or your Hard Drive is slowly failing...

I replaced the HD on a Toshiba laptop - the symptoms were the same with "out of memory" message...

Back-up your work!
