I have an ASUS M51 series laptop and have been going through a series of problems without progress.
In the begging....
- Randomly on boot and when working the screen would go blank and all function would stop (no music, would be D/Ced from games) but the computer would still be on.
- Ran recovery, worked after 3rd attempt.
- Updated Windows
- Now 99% of the time, blank screen on boot with 0 bios sounds. 1% allows me to start recovery again but blacks out after 3%.
I wiped the hard drive and it didn't help.

One of my friends suggested it could be the internal battery maybe? I'm a novice with repairs and don't know how to even find out if that is the issue or how to get a new one.

By 'blank screen' I don't mean it is dead. It is still getting power and has the glow but there is no info being displayed.

possibly a powersupply problem. you could try removing the battery and running it straight off of the ext. power adaptor, if that's possible with your laptop. (It should be easy to remove the battery, should be indicated as so on the backside of the laptop.) if you get the same problem, you could usually test a ext. power adaptor with your laptop at the local computer shops like fry's electronics if you have those nearby. Otherwise it could be a hardware problem, but you could quickly eliminate the psu as a possibility with this testing.
