I'm having a rather odd issue with a Compaq Presario 2104US laptop.
The unit won't connect to the internet, at all. Now, usually I would attribute this to a virus, or a bad network card, or a proxy server accidentally being turned on, or a manual IP address... or something of that nature.
Unfortunately, it's none of the above. The computer is virus free, the NIC works fine (I've tested USB ethernet devices and PCMCIA ethernet devices, and still the same problem), it gets an IP address and can ping other computers on our local network (but not URLs). There is no proxy server setup, and as far as I can tell there is no firewall blocking anything. I've also repaired Windows with the Windows CD and that also fixed nothing.
Despite all of these attempts, it cannot access the internet.
I'm very confused as to what else could even be causing this issue... any suggestions?
Thanks alot in advance.
