Laptop Help

Ok so my mom went out and up and bought this crappy laptop for like $150$ which i told her it would be cheaper to buy one new or have me build her a cheap desktop but no...thats how moms are.

Ok so this thing is still on WinME it had a pentium III(intel i486SX)
and to top it of a 7gig hard drive. and like 128 ram.

So I need to upgrade this thing to play WoW(fo my little bro). I also need to do it the cheapest way possible.

Reason I ask is I know nothing of laptops. HELP!

You would have to upgrade the hd to at least 5200rpm 40gig and memory to at least 512. Oh yea and a new copy of xp pro oem (ME is the devil). You're looking at a good $300 minimum to making this usable, if that.

Even then I seriously doubt you will be able to do anything productive in WoW. My old laptop (2.4 P4 512 ram 40gig 5200rpm) had a heart attack when I tried to login to WoW when my main comp died. All I did was use the AH in Darn and it was painful. Furthermore, your integrated graphics will probably be below the minimum requirements for WoW.

Laptops are not meant to be easily/cheaply upgraded.

I suggest you download Wolfenstein and tell your brother to go nuts.

What I am realy wondering is what parts will I need specifically.. I need to know what kind of ram n what hard drive specifically is compatible... thx

Dude, I just wanted you to know you're not getting many responses because, no matter what ya do, you're Mom's new machine will not be capable for running the new games.
The ram upgrade is here and the 16MB upgrade will max you out at 20MB. Hard drive upgrades can be found here and are regular notebook drives.
If you're Mom agrees with you about gaming, ask here before she buys the next machine. If she doesn't.......
